The Cry of the Human Heart

This poem was written by my friend Jim Lake. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! :)

Please catch me doing something good
And let the cheering start
This type of love is understood
It fortifies the heart

Try now to see the best in me
Don’t judge me in advance
Extend some warmth and empathy
Give me a second chance

I think of times when I was young
And really dropped the ball
Some folks said things that hurt and stung
It did not help at all

I felt like I should run and hide
And never show my face
I thought no one was on my side
To show a little grace

I’m older now and years have passed
And time is marching on
But in my mind I’ve often asked
Is all the sweetness gone?

Do folks today know how to cheer
For family, friends and foes
Or take the time to shed a tear
Or smell a lovely rose

There is so much we all can do
To help our fellow man
By reaching out to just a few
We’re fitting in God’s plan

God wants the world to see His love
Quite active in our lives
To show the Kingdom we are of
That serves and still survives

Be What The Lord Wants You To Be
Let Him Make All Things New
Share Love And Kindness Endlessly
I’m Cheering Now For You!!!

  • Beautiful poem! I have felt that “cry” and need to remember that we all have and do feel it. You’ve encouraged me with a desire to extend pure love and attention to others and “scatter sunshine!” Thank you!

This is a very beautiful poem. Thanks for sharing. When you put God first in your life and build a relationship with Him. He shows us how we can be more compassionate and loving to others. Not judge others. But to love them. I feel that through my trials God has built me to the person I am today and He is still building me to the person that He knows that I can become, at the end of my journey. My trials and experiences have blessed me with the opportunity to see others in a different light. When I am in the mist of my trial and I don’t find others to console or comfort me. I know who will never leave nor forsake me. I take my Lord by the hand and let Him show me how I can be that sympathetic person to others. You won’t always get the reaction that you want from people. For people are imperfect. But Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ are perfect. If we keep our eyes single to them. We can be all that God know we can become. We can see those who stand in need of our help. Remember how we would like to be treated. Remember the way our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ would want us to respond. By seeking the guidance to do and handle everything by the will of God we can never go wrong.
